Underbecks Overview
Underbecks is a light, spacious detached house perched on the hillside above South Sands beach, with room for up to 12 guests, across 5 bedrooms.
The house is within easy walking distance of the lovely South Sands Hotel, with its cosy bar and fabulous food. Less than half a mile away, you’ll find Overbecks, a National Trust property with fascinating objects and dreamy gardens.
With its comfortable and good-sized enclosed terrace, Underbecks offers the perfect spot for a barbecue, and perhaps a glass of something special, looking out over the sandy beach of South Sands, with sensational views upstream to Salcombe.
Step down from the road to the front door and into the large hall, where light streams down from roof windows, and move through to the large open-plan living room, which draws you to the huge bay windows for the view.
Underbecks is perfect for a family getaway, with five bedrooms and five bathrooms. Two kingsize bedrooms with en suite bathrooms boast outrageous sea views at the front of the house. On the other side of the house, there are two bedrooms. Boasting a private decked balcony that gives tantalising sea glimpses, the first of these bedrooms can be set-up as either as a twin or a super king. The second bedroom is a twin room.
Downstairs, a double bunk room (that’s perfect for up to four children) offers a porthole view to the beach and estuary. Downstairs is also a full-width open plan room offering a second living space.
Film buffs will love the home cinema, with surround sound, multiroom audio and all the equipment you need to settle in after a day at the beach. The dining room offers overhead mood lighting and sliding doors to the terrace, and also leads into the light and airy kitchen with great views up the estuary towards Salcombe.
A separate utility cupboard keeps the washing machine and drier unobtrusively close at hand, while the kitchen contains everything you need for an enjoyable evening whipping up some tasty treats.
Underbecks is offered with either our Salcombe Classic or Salcombe Luxe service. Salcombe Classic refers to a service level where you enjoy your holiday without any assistance from the Salcombe Finest team (although we are on call should anything crop up!) Salcombe Luxe delivers our exacting levels of service including daily maid service and complimentary concierge. Our team will create a bespoke itinerary according to your requirements; read more in the VIP Treatment section.
Please note that there are a number of steps externally to reach the front door of Underbecks from the parking area. Internally, there are steps between the front door, bedrooms and the open plan kitchen/dining/living area.
Pets are not allowed in Underbecks. Smoking not allowed. No stag or hen parties.
