Pitchford House

Pitchford House is regarded as the most elegant town house in Salcombe. Grade II listed, it is located in the absolute heart of Salcombe with an elevated walled garden that provides stunning panoramic views of the estuary.

Overview

Pitchford House is a newly refurbished imposing Georgian home situated in a prime position on Fore Street in the heart of Salcombe moments a stones throw from the water. It is easily recognisable by it’s pink facade and attractive veranda.

Views from the house and from the garden take in much of the estuary including the Salcombe Lifeboat, the main anchorage, up the South Pool creek and over to the beaches of East Portlemouth.

This is a luxury Salcombe holiday home that is bright and spacious with high ceilings and comes beautifully furnished with textured greys and blue in a contemporary style. The five bedrooms sleep up to eleven people; three of which have stunning uninterrupted views over the Salcombe harbour.

To enter Pitchford House, climb the private steps from street level to the attractive veranda and into the wide hallway. On this level you will find open plan space. A high ceilinged sitting room with two large sash windows with working shutters that again provide splendid views across the harbour. A spacious kitchen and large dining area; perfect for entertaining. The kitchen includes an American fridge freezer  a  range cooker and leads onto a practical utility space with further storage.

A period staircase leads up to the next floor where you will find three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a kingsized bed with spectacular views out of the east-facing sash windows and an en suite bathroom. The second bedroom is also a kingsize with an en suite shower room. The third bedroom has two single beds and again fabulous views over the estuary.

Up again and you will find two superb bedrooms with sloping ceilings. The first bedroom has three single beds and an east facing arched window giving the most dramatic and beautiful views across the estuary towards South Pool Creek. The second a Kingsize bed nestled into the eaves, it is perfect for peace and tranquility with its own en suite bathroom.

Steps from the kitchen and dining area lead up to the incredible private garden enclosed by natural stone walls. Half of the garden is laid to lawn with specimen trees including Magnolia, the remainder has been paved providing a marvellous area for outdoor dining, barbecuing and simply enjoying the amazing view across the rooftops to the estuary from Fishermans Cove on the East Portlemouth shoreline around to the entrance of Batson Creek. New for 2017 is a giant fire pit and seating area. 

 

Dogs allowed only at the discretion of the owner when agreed apon booking. Smoking not allowed inside. Discounts sometimes available for smaller groups.

Salcombe Finest was a superb partner in planning and executing our holiday. Both the team and Lesley (our property owner) were helpful and responsive - a big plus considering we were doing all our planning from America. The house was perfect for our group, and Lesley did a great job providing advice and suggestions on how to make it all 'work.'
