Mandalay is a beautiful, private and substantial house set amongst landscaped grounds on the outskirts of Salcombe. To one side of the house are views over the North Sands valley and out to sea; the other takes in the beautiful Devon countryside and glorious sunsets. From the bottom of the garden you can get onto Beadon Road which in no time takes you down to the ever popular North Sands beach and the Winking Prawn – a Salcombe institution!

Spacious and light, it is perfect for groups and families looking to enjoy some tranquility in style. Leading off the main living area there is a large terrace just perfect for entertaining, and the gardens are a joy to explore. Perhaps you’ll find the secluded summer house with decking and a charcoal barbecue; a popular spot for a catch up with an old friend or family member.

The steep driveway down to the house makes for an impressive entrance to Mandalay. Above the garage is the modern annexe with a wonderful bedroom that leads out onto a balcony where you can sit and enjoy the sunshine with a cup of tea. There is an en suite shower room and kitchenette which makes the annexe a great place for grandparents or for teens wanting their own space.

Entering the main house takes you into the recently upgraded kitchen (new photographs coming soon) which is spacious and well-equipped. There is plenty of storage for food and the all important drinks in both the kitchen and garage fridges. The open plan kitchen leads to the dining area and through to the first sitting room with glorious views, wood burner and television; a great space to spend time relaxing with your guests.

Doors from the kitchen/dining area lead out onto the most wonderful, sunny and impressively positioned terrace. There is plenty of seating for al fresco dining and relaxation whilst taking in those sea views.

A second sitting room houses an enormous television with surround sound; perfect for watching the latest Hollywood blockbusters, or for enjoying more of those sea views.

Upstairs to the first floor is where you’ll find four generously proportioned bedrooms and bathrooms. The master bedroom (super king or twin) with en suite bathroom is large and has superb views out to sea. The second bedroom (kingsize) also has its own en suite bathroom.

Two further bedrooms (a twin room, and a room that can be either a super king size or twin) share a family bathroom and an additional shower room, so plenty of bathing facilities for all your guests.

Outside the house it is a pleasure to meander through the terraced gardens. Throughout the year the flowers are changing, and in autumn you are welcome to enjoy freshly picked apples from the orchard area. There is a summer house in the garden with some outdoor furniture on the decking and a barbecue. This is a particularly lovely spot to chill out and watch the night draw in as the sun sets.

At the bottom of the garden there is access to Beadon Road which takes you down to North Sands when you’re ready to leave Mandalay for some beach action.

Please note that the driveway is steep.

Please note that children should be supervised in the gardens at all times.

No smoking allowed.

One well behaved dog welcome at the discretion of the owner and an additional £35 per week.
