Landmark is an incredible property that has been lovingly renovated and filled with gorgeous furniture and clever interior design. With its vast space, this house is the perfect place to holiday for multigenerational families or a big group of friends. Its quiet location is only 7 minutes walk from North Sands and a pleasant 15 minute stroll into town.
There is a large terrace that runs the entire length of the house which provide wonderful alfresco socialising opportunities with outdoor seating areas and a hot tub to soothe away any aches and pains.
Outside there are 2.3 acres to explore with terraced gardens leading to woodland with glimpses of the sea twinkling through the trees. Please note that only the upper terrace is consistently tended to; the rest of the gardens have been left wild and not suitable for unattended little ones.
The famous American novelist Paul Gallico (The Snow Goose, Poseidon Adventure) resided at Landmark between the late 30s and mid 60s and he established the gardens. He dictated his books while walking in these gardens and the separate cottage is where his secretary lived. The house faces principally south and west while the north side of the house has a spectacular Arts and Craft gable with stonework in a herringbone pattern.
Enter this luxury holiday home from the parking area (down a private driveway) into the hallway. From here there is a beautiful kitchen and open plan living and dining area. This leads out onto a sunny terrace with an additional outdoor dining area.
Next to the kitchen is a sitting room with plenty of comfortable sofas, fireplace and HD television with Netflix, Freeview and Amazon. Move on through the hallway and you’ll come across the gorgeous chaise longue and wood burner – the perfect place to read your book in style and comfort or have a little snooze!
And at the end of the house is a huge living area where you’ll find a dining table to seat 14+ guests (photo coming soon), sofas and open fireplace, television, hanging pods and table tennis table. The living area continues seamlessly out onto the terrace with outdoor seating and the hot tub through the sliding floor to ceiling glass windows. A huge wet room can be found on the ground floor which can be accessed from outside (perfect for sandy toes) with a shower and plenty of hanging rails for drying off kit.
The ground floor of the house also has two stylish bedrooms sharing a gorgeous Jack and Jill bathroom with separate shower and bath.
Upstairs you will find the master bedroom with en suite shower room with views through the trees and out to sea. There is a bright and airy room with two single beds and a bunk bed. Further along the landing you will find a bedroom with a kingsize bed and at the end of the house a bunk room. These bedrooms share a family shower room.
The house will take a maximum of 14 guests, and depending on the group requirements, there is an annexe or cottage which can be utilised. Below the terraces lies the secret annexe with a kingsize bedroom and en-suite shower room; perfect for a little peace and quiet! And behind the house is a cottage with shower room. Please speak to the team about using the annexe or cottage.
Landmark is offered with either our Salcombe Classic or Salcombe Luxe service. Salcombe Classic refers to a service level where you enjoy your holiday without any assistance from the Salcombe Finest team (although we are on call should anything crop up!) Salcombe Luxe delivers our exacting levels of service including daily maid service and complimentary concierge. Please be aware that there are steep steps throughout the gardens that are unsuitable for little ones. The section of the terrace with the hot tub has gates either side to keep toddlers hemmed in. Other terrace areas do not have gates and lead to steep steps that are unsuitable for young children to be left unattended.
Smoking not allowed inside. No pets allowed. Please note that if very strong winds are forecast, cars should not be left at the bottom of the drive underneath the branches of the trees in case of falling pine cones/branches.
